We have had another tremendous year.

After many months of anticipation, we finally opened our 48-bed Gloucester hub at the beginning of December.  This property, in the centre of the city, will provide supported accommodation for single people and families.  We are pleased to welcome the new team on board and look forward to seeing the project thrive under their care.

For the second year, we have opened our emergency winter accommodation, providing a safe haven to those who may otherwise be rough sleeping over the winter months.  During the 2018/19 winter, over 100 people used our facility for more than 1,200 bed nights.  We are thankful to Gloucestershire County Council and P3 who have partnered with us on this project.

We have an exciting opportunity to develop the YMCA Sports Centre in Arle Road, Cheltenham, to provide more and better facilities and opportunities for the community.  We look forward to seeing plans being drawn up during 2020 and to sharing these with you.

Number 6, our budget tourist accommodation in Cheltenham, has been buzzing with guests and visitors from all over the world.  We have upgraded many rooms and will continue the upgrade throughout 2020.  Our distinctive and characterful meeting rooms are available to hire and continue to be well used by a wide variety of groups and local businesses.

Our other accommodation projects – St Michael’s in Gloucester, Dulverton Court, James Smith Row and our supported housing provision in Cheltenham - have all provided a safe and secure home to diverse range of people throughout the year.  Sadly, despite having more than 230 beds available every night, there does not appear to be any let up in the demand for our services.  During 2020 we will continue to seek out new properties, particularly those suitable for residents moving on from our supported housing projects to more independent living in Gloucester and Cheltenham.

I would personally like to thank everyone who has supported us over the year; there are far too many of you to mention by name, but you know who you are.

We look forward to 2020 with a sense of excited anticipation, knowing that there is much work still to do but trusting that the Lord will guide and direct us in the way that we should go.

I wish you all a peaceful Christmas and every blessing for the year ahead.
